The Pecan Street Association has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Fall Pecan Street Festival due to COVID-19 and denial of our City Special Events Permit.
Because public safety is always our first priority, and after much consideration and consultation with The City of Austin, The Pecan Street Association, the 501C4 Non Profit that produces the Pecan Street Festival, must officially cancel the Fall 2021 event slated for September 18-19. Our hopes were high after receiving approval from the City for an in person/physically attended event on our proposed dates and we are heartbroken to make this difficult but necessary decision, due to the COVID spike, again. The Pecan Street Association is comprised of an all volunteer board of local business owners, artists and producers, whose mission is to give back to the community via donations to local nonprofits and historical education/preservation of Pecan Street (aka Sixth St.).Our main source of revenue to fulfill our mission statement, as well as fulfill ongoing agreements with our independent contractors for the festival and association, is through producing the Pecan Street Festival. We extend our sincerest apologies to all of our vendors/artisans, sponsors and contractors who rely upon events like ours, as much as we do, for income and exposure, but we know this was the right course of action for maintaining the health and safety of the greater community. We will begin discussions with the City of Austin as soon as plausible, to explore dates and options for 2022. Thank you for your understanding and support and please continue to support the arts any way you can!
We would like to thank all of the artists, vendors, sponsors and volunteers who make the Festival possible each year. Pecan Fest has been a staple in the Austin community for over 40 years and we are looking forward to bringing it back in 2022.
